Age Verification

At Flint & Flame, we want our beautiful kitchen knives to be loved by everyone from passionate home cooks and bakers, to professional chefs, and restaurateurs, and to be used for nothing other than their intended purpose – preparing great food.

As a result, we are committed to ensuring they are only ever sold, and delivered, to age checked customers in line with changes in UK Law that states all knives are now 18+ age restricted items.

To deliver on that commitment, we’ve partnered with AgeChecked, a UK government-approved age verification solution that allows us to complete age verification checks whenever anyone purchases knives from us.

How does AgeChecked work? 

The great news is, that for the vast majority of the time, you won’t even notice any changes in the way you shop with us.

The AgeChecked verification process automatically runs in the background anytime you purchase a knife, and if your age check is confirmed as a pass, your order will complete as normal.

If for any reason the automatic verification process is unable to verify your age, you will be directed to AgeChecked ‘s on-screen ID Scan that will allow you to complete the process manually. You’ll also be shown a web link should you need to complete the process at a more convenient time.

What happens with delivery?

Delivery can only take place once the age verification process is complete. All orders that have not been verified will remain on hold until we are notified the process has been completed successfully.

In addition, delivery can only be made to the person placing the order, and to the billing address given at the time of the order.

Upon delivery, a second age check will be completed by our courier who will ask to see ID from the person receiving the goods, to prove that they are the person who placed the order, and that they are over 18 years old.

Does AgeChecked hold my data?     

AgeChecked is British Standard code of practise PAS:1296 compliant, and utilises a token based system that ensures complete customer anonymity.

Throughout the entire age verification process, no personal data is retained on AgeChecked’s system.
